6th, 7th round report & final ceremony

On Wednesday afternoon in the 65+ category two teams of Germany played on first two tables. Israel beat Germany 1  3.5: 0.5, only GM Hort scored a half point for his team. Germany 2 also failed and lost to Russia 3: 1. On the third table, Hungary lost closely to another German team, Die Franken. On the fourth and fifth tables, the Czechs scored only half of the eight games. Czech Republic 1 lost to France 0: 4 and Czech Republic 3 lost to Schachfreunde Leipzig 3.5: 1.5. The ranking after the sixth round is very exciting in the first five places.

In the 50+ category, the USA team tied with the German Lasker Schachstiftung GK. Czech Republic 1 beat Scotland 3:1.

 Thursday came and only one hour before the start of the 7th round, the government of the Czech Republic and the National Security Council have declared more preventive measures against spread of the coronavirus. As per the decision of the government and the National Security Council, which came in force on Tuesday 12th March, 2020, all cultural, sport, and social events with above 30 participants were banned. Therefore organisers decided to finish the tournament by 7th round on 12th March 2020. 

Players started the games at 15:00 and some of them didn't last too long.

In the category +50  the match between USA1 and Island was tied after a few moves. Also on the second table Yamal and Czech republic 1 finished the games quickly in draw. USA TOO had to withdraw from the tournament, so Lasker Schachstiftung GK won 0:4 on the third table. Next two matches were played and Slovakia defeated Czech republic 2 2.5:1.5 and Czech Republic 1960-1961 beat SC Groebenzell 3.5:0.5.

 In the category 65+ Israel lost to France 2.5:1.5, Russia didnt lose even a point to Die Franken and Gemany 1 drew with Sweden 1.

The Final ceremony was  moved to 12th March 2020, 10pm. Only the winners of each category were allowed to participate.

But is was later because of the playing the longest game in this tournament with 164 moves in the category 65+.  

At the closing ceremony beside of the best teams, the best player were awarded according to the points on each board.
