The Czech Republic 1 won against the Island 2, 5 to 1.5. This round had a surprise; Lasker Schachstiftung GK played against Slovakia 2:2. GM Alexander Graf was playing against GM Lubomir Ftacnik. Graf's methodical play put him in the better position, but he ran out of time and his flag fell and lost the game.
